November 2011 Update- Hiking Big Bend

I enjoyed hiking Big Bend National Park, 7 hours west of San Antonio. I went with friends I made from years ago and also got to meet some new ones. The dads and their oldest kids and I had a great time. I was really impressed with how the kids dealt with the long and steep hike on the mountains.

The first night I basically took some pain meds and slept at 5 pm until the following morning.

Since my birthday fell on the night we were in our second campsite, my friends made me some pie. It was delicious!

On our way back, the kids saw this guy with his dog. After eating lunch, we drove back and the kids gave all their food away to this man and his dog. I was so impressed that an 11-year old would have the heart and sensitivity to think of someone else. I was indeed proud of them.
